What is the difference between P-metric and metric tires?

In our forum for calling some of our readers have questioned the interchangeability of the P-metric and metric tire size designations. But the answer to this question is like asking how to solve the national debt crisis. In other words, there are many answers, and some may be more practical decisions than others.

There are two basic size designations are often used for passenger car tyres, called P-metric and metric size. If you see "P" to the size of the tyre sidewall is P-metric tire. If there is no P is metric tyre (also called Euro metric or hard metric). In the past, measures of p are often an indication of the amounts found on domestic cars, vans and light commercial adapters and pikapi. Foreign cars usually came with metric tires. These days, however, you can find P-metric and metric tires for all types.

So that the frequently asked question is: you can use the P-metric and metric tires interchangeably when purchasing tires for replacement?

Even within the industry there are conflicting points of view. For example, let's take a look at the differences between P215/60R16 and 215/60R16 tire. Physically, they have almost the same dimensions and to accommodate interchangeably, but you will notice a difference in the two-and three-digit number after the amount, called the index. The higher the load index, the more freight capacity of the tyre. P215/60R16 has the load index of 94, correspond to the maximum load of 1,477 lbs at 35 psi; 215/60R16 tyre has load index of 95 for a maximum period of 1,521 lbs of 36 psi.

Why the difference? Both types use different load and inflation formulas; as a result, metric tire is a little greater load index and greater capacity for the carriage of cargo reserve of its P-metric socket. (Learn how to decode the size and other data.)

Therefore, if the car is delivered with the P-metric tires, you can change them with the P-metric or metric tires. Metric tires will have greater capacity to load spare from what came out of the car as original equipment and is an acceptable substitute. However, since the P-metric tires have lower load capacity reserve of reward metric, you should not use the P-metric tire size part of the metric tyres on your car as original equipment. Ghosts of Irene: how to avoid flood-damaged car

As millions of Americans continue to clean up from Hurricane Irene, and their homes and life back together, one Freedman impact will be a new wave of floods damaged cars as its time on the market of used cars.

Lights are expensive to replace, and waterline may still show in the frame of the glass or reflector. inspect the car in difficult to clean places, such as the disparities between the panels in the trunk and while under the hood. Behind the handlebars: new design 2012 Toyota Camry

Let's be honest: boring sells. 1983 Toyota has sold approximately 15 million Camrys worldwide. Camry often is among the most competitive this type in consumer reports tests, but none of my colleagues will put their top 40 most fun cars to drive. Ever.

Camry is popular, but is loved it? Toyota may make quite a dull car nice? Does the company even care management use? Note that do not yet exist does not replace the Celica, MR2 or Supra.

Navigon launches second generation Smartphone navigation apps, offers free upgrades

Road test video: 2011 Dodge Durango

Exactly what part of the transformation is a new design for the 2011 Dodge Durango? I've been thinking about how I would like to maintain my itch to tow a trailer povleceni travel more.

Like many other people the old Durango would be on my shopping list with never, ever. Last check the old school of Durango in 2008, only one year before the truck goes to the next part is due to during the sales. The new Durango is not perfect. It is heavy, but this weight blunts performance and fuel economy. 3.6-liter V6 is nice, but you have to rev to move this mass. Drawing its limit full 6,200-lb weight will take some patience. Hemi V8 tows more and add a heaping dollop of torque, but larger engine is his fee in fuel consumption. (Durango with the Ford EcoBoost V6 would have wonderful mash-up). Upcoming speed of eight automatically may not arrive soon enough.

Weathering the storm: Tips for surviving the hurricane car

Since Hurricane Irene approaches the East Coast, we prepared a few safety tips related to your car, which can play a key role in surviving a natural disaster.

People will be affected in a wide range of ways from this storm system from direct damage to the home and power loss, interruption of goods and services. The most important tip is knowing that extreme weather is not a place for management. Do not drive in the storm. Risks as hydroplaning and unexpected attack submerged objects in deep puddles are too real and emergency services will have their hands full. Do not add to their challenges.

That said, here are some things to consider.

Fill the tank of gas. If your County remain without power for days, may be to drive for birds or travel to obtain services. In good time, which is a difficult task, but when millions of other people is also a hotel, the distance it must travel may be significant. And ultimately, may end up sleeping in the car.

Installing new wipers, or at least refresh existing by wiping with a damp paper towel, with a window cleaning. In our tests we found that simple action often to add months of service. (See our tips for wipers and assessments).

Check the pressure of the tyres, including spare tyres. When it is time to go, you don't want just flat tyres to hold back. If debris litters the streets, the chance of tyre puncture is much greater.

Also you must have a go bag in the car, cash, water, food, clothing and other live bases in the event that you need to be locked. The House can withstand considerable damage, you may not rely on being able to retrieve everything otherwise you may want to travel.

GM and LG combine forces on electric cars

General Motors and LG group today announced agree to jointly develop future electric vehicles, such as the GM Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid, which uses batteries provided by the Korean conglomerate.

Joint agreement expands companies ' experience with Volt and Opel Ampera, similar EV extended range, which GM markets abroad. But more than simply serial hybrids, from today, the agreement also points to the future of the only battery cars like the Nissan leaf and upcoming Ford focus electric. (According to the Detroit free press, GM and LG also placed before a test fleet of battery-powered Chevrolet Cruze EVs.)

GM and LG announcement is the most recent news on joint efforts between the Detroit auto manufacturers and companies.

Earlier this month, fans EV boost with news that Toyota and Tesla Motors have teamed up to produce electric version of the 2013 model year Toyota RAV4 SUV.

And on Monday, Ford and Toyota formed a partnership to develop new systems to drive the hybrid for light trucks and pikapi. GM and LG announcement did not disclose where the EMF produced from this joint effort can hit the streets.
